Waiting on Wednesday #6

Ashes on the WavesTitle: Ashes on the Waves
Author: Mary Lindsey

Series: N/A
Publisher: Philomel/Penguin
Expected Publication: June 27, 2013

Liam MacGregor is cursed. Haunted by the wails of fantastical Bean Sidhes and labeled a demon by the villagers of Dòchas, Liam has accepted that things will never get better for him—until a wealthy heiress named Annabel Leighton arrives on the island and Liam’s fate is changed forever.

With Anna, Liam finally finds the happiness he has always been denied; but, the violent, mythical Otherworlders, who inhabit the island and the sea around it, have other plans. They make a wager on the couple’s love, testing its strength through a series of cruel obstacles. But the tragedies draw Liam and Anna even closer. Frustrated, the creatures put the couple through one last trial—and this time it’s not only their love that’s in danger of being destroyed.

Based on Edgar Allan Poe’s chilling poem Annabel Lee, Mary Lindsey creates a frighteningly beautiful gothic novel that glorifies the power of true love.

Why I'm Waiting:
I read Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey earlier this year and I absolutely loved it and I am looking forward to reading something else by her. I love a story where the characters have to fight for their love to survive and this one just sounds quite creepy. Plus it's based on a poem by Edgar Allen Poe, how awesome is that?
What are you guys waiting on this week? Leave me a link below and I'll check it out!

  1. Woohoo! Go Edgar Allen Poe! :D I remember how much you liked the last book you read by her, so hopefully this one will rock too! Fab pick, Sarah! :D

    1. Thanks. The Edgar Allan Poe basis sealed the deal for me, other than the fact that I loved her other book lol!

The second in the series to the one that I loved will be a WoW pick sometime in the future, once it has a cover and all. It doesn't release until 2014 though :(

  2. FANTASTIC choice - have you been watching the Following? The Poe masks make me smile every time :) They totally aren't supposed to be funny but they are so weird! :)
